There's a lot to learn about couponing before you really get the hang
of it. What do IP and MM stand for exactly? What's the difference
between an ECB and a RR? And what the hell is a blinkie? Here is a
list of common abbreviations and terms you might see out there, along
with definitions.
BLINKIES = A coupon found in-store, usually dispensed from a red container with a blinking light
CATALINA = coupon dispensed at register after purchase
DOUBLE COUPON = coupon that a store will allow to be doubled in value
ECB
= Extra Care Bucks, a program offered at CVS that will give you what is
essentially a CVS gift card back after certain purchases
HANGTAG = Coupons hanging on a product
IP = Internet Printable coupon
MIR = Mail In Rebate
MM = Money maker, or an item that the store will pay you to take out of the store
MQ = Manufacturer coupon, or a coupon issued by the maker of a specific product
PEELIE = coupon that you peel off a package
RAINCHECK = A form given when an item is sold out that allows one to receive the sale price or promotion associated with said item at the time given
RR
= Register Rewards, a program at Walgreen's that gives you a certain
amount of points back when you buy certain products. These points are
worth money that can be redeemed on your next purchase
STACKING = Some stores allow the use of more than one coupon per item, mainly a manufacturer and a store coupon
TEAR PAD = A pad of refund forms or coupons found hanging from a store shelf or display
UPC = Universal Product Code
