Trading Qs: An Awesome Way To Get the Coupons You Need
One of the most common questions people ask me when they are starting out with coupons is, "where do you find all of them??" Most manufacturer coupons come from weekly newspaper inserts. However, buying multiple papers can be counterproductive, as the main goal of extreme couponing is to spend as little money as possible. If you're spending $20 a week on newspapers just for the coupons, is it worth it?
Trading coupons is an excellent way to get coupons that you want without spending a dime. There are several Facebook groups dedicated to this practice; you can search for national or local groups where people will offer up (UFT) or list the coupons they are in search of (ISO). You can also post your own offers or needs and if all goes according to plan, you will have a successful trade set up! I will often set aside coupons that I do not want for the purpose of future trading. Many people will also accept postage stamps for trades.
There are also several website forums dedicated to coupon trading. We Use Coupons and Hot Coupon World are both great places to look for trades. Remember to use good etiquette when making trades; always fulfill your end of the trade ASAP, do not send coupons that are about to expire, and make sure that your trades are fair. Keep in mind that selling coupons is against the law.
When completed successfully, coupon trades are beneficial for everyone involved. You get the coupons you need (perhaps even ones that folks in your region did not receive) without spending money, and your trade partner gets coupons that may have otherwise ended up in the trash. Try it out today!
