One of the first things I always tell new couponers is to evaluate the space they have to store purchases before they do anything else. What's the point of getting 50 packs of yogurt for free if you only have a dorm-size refrigerator? Take a look at your home and decide which areas can be designated for your stock pile. Perhaps there's a storage room in your basement that is gathering dust. Or maybe you have an old fridge in the garage that's only contents are a 6 pack of Miller Lite from 1998.
People with smaller homes or apartments may have to be a little creative. No one wants their walls to be lined with paper towels (yes Mama June, I'm talking to you). Try to find unused cabinets or shelves, or consolidate if you can.
A couponer's stock pile is a holy grail of savings. A proud collection of items that you can look at with a gleam in your eye, remembering past hauls. However, it is vital that your stock pile stay clean and organized. In addition, you do not want to fill your space to the brim too quickly, or you may risk running out of room for all of the upcoming deals you have your eye on. If you're couponing for other people or groups, try to get them their items as soon as possible. You do not want to walk the line between couponer and hoarder.
