Couponing For a Good Cause

One question that I often ask myself while admiring my stock pile is "can there ever be too much of a good thing?"  While preparing for a move, it dawned on me that now may be a good time to go through my stock pile and share some of the wealth.  There are plenty of people within our own communities that could greatly benefit from our smart shopping, and we all know how good it feels to give back.

While many couponers would ideally like to have a one year's supply of regularly used products, it may not always be necessary.  And as we all know, sales and coupons are cyclical, meaning you can always recoup what you decide to give away.  If you have 10 bottles of shampoo, it will not hurt to give at least half of those away. Sure it may be fun to look at your stock pile with pride but think of how great it would be to give someone else the basic things that they may struggle to afford. Plus, if you're a shopaholic like me, this gives you even more reason to go back to the store!

Try searching on the internet for local charities that could benefit from your donations. Food shelves, shelters, and even animal rescue organizations could all use supplies that couponers can get for cheap or even free.  Schools and churches often run drives, so keep an eye out for those opportunities as well. You could also be proactive and organize your own event.  Be a leader and inspire other couponers and do-gooders in your community to come out and support a non-profit that has meaning in your life.  And don't forget that your donations may be tax-deductible.

Open your heart, and use your shopping powers for good!
